When it comes to providing for your family, it can sometimes feel like you’re all alone. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. The Lafayette community is full of different family resources that can give assistance to anyone who needs it. What is a family resource? Family resources are any type of communal service that offers assistance to families who need some help. However, family resources aren’t just charities. In all honesty, a family resource can mean something different to almost everyone you ask. Some might say that prayer and worship centers are family resources for those who seek God. Others might say that a family resource is a food pantry or communal clothes closet. There is no wrong answer, but there is one place that offers all of itFirst Assembly Community Ministries.

First Assembly Community Ministries (FACM) values community very highly. To them, community is a collective of individuals working together to make their world better. FACM offers family resources in Lafayette by providing different services to the community.

Sunday Worship Service

First Assembly has an open door for anyone to attend Sunday service. In their opinion, it is the most valuable resource they can offer. The church’s goal is “To create a community where waves of people are transformed by the love of God.” There are two Sunday services at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Life Groups

Romney-Meadows-renovationsFACM believes that people are meant to live in relationship with each other, through God. That is why they offer small life groups. These groups consist of 6-10 people and offer encouragement and comfort for a myriad of things. This includes financial counseling, family of military support, grief sharing, and more. Through the word of God and encouragement of others, these groups offer comfort for those who need it. They are open to anyone, even if you aren’t a member of the church.

Youth Resources

First Assembly offers some engaging programs for youth in the community. The program, “Adventure Romney-Meadows-renovations
Station” is an associate program to First Assembly that offers faith-based child care, preschool, and kindergarten. “Adventure Station’s mission is to love and nurture children just as Christ loved us, while providing an age-based learning environment.”

First Assembly also offers kids a fun way to learn about the teachings of Christ through their program “KidzTown.” KidzTown is one of many fun ways for kids to get involved. Others include the JC Kids program and the travelling quiz team Junior Bible Quiz.

Community Center

First Assembly’s community center holds various events and functions as well as resources for the community. The community center offers locals the chance to volunteer in their community. The community center is always looking for help putting on events.
