Meet Dwain Sadler. He’s the Rehab Manager for Romney Meadows and the Head of Maintenance for American Apartment Management. Dwain has been working hard on the Romney Meadow capital improvements since October 2015. He has worked with American Apartment Management since 1993. Dwain lives in Knoxville, Tennessee with his wife, but has been staying on the property during construction.
After living in the community for over a year, Dwain has some good insight into how the renovations and upgrades have affected the residents. “Residents are reporting what they see,” Dwain says, “and the riff raff is nothing compared to what it used to be.” He credits those particular changes to the residents feeling respected and as though they can be proud of their upgraded community. He also credits the changes to new lighting and security cameras that have been installed.
“Before the start of the project, the residents had doubt,” said Dwain, “once they realized the seriousness of the rehab, their attitudes changed completely.” Dwain also talked about a continuing relationship between Rohde and the residents. Rohde was the contractor for the whole renovation project. Once the renovations have been completed and Dwain heads back to Knoxville, the management team will continue maintenance of the property.
The rehab of Romney Meadows, the Lafayette, Indiana affordable housing property of choice, began in January. There has been an impressive amount of work done on both the interiors and exteriors of each of the buildings throughout the year. Now there are only a few building that need to be finished, and other than a few aesthetic touches, the construction will be done by the end of the year.
